How it works

1

Upload the EPUB

Any standard, unencrypted .epub file.

2

Chapters are laid out

Text and images are flowed onto pages with headings kept in order.

3

Download the PDF

A paginated document you can print, annotate or archive.

A book that prints, annotates and stays put

EPUB is built to reflow. Every reader lays it out differently, which is ideal on a phone and unhelpful the moment you need to print a chapter, mark up a passage for a study group, or cite a page number that means the same thing to everyone.

A PDF fixes one layout for good. Text and images are flowed onto pages once, chapter headings keep their order, and the file then reads identically on every device and prints exactly as it appears. Books with DRM cannot be converted; standard unencrypted EPUB files can.

Common uses

  • Printing a chapter for reading away from a screen.
  • Course material distributed with stable page numbers.
  • Annotating a manuscript with comments and highlights.
  • Archiving a book in a format that will still open in a decade.

Once converted, Split PDF takes a single chapter out, Compress PDF shrinks an illustrated edition, and PDF to Text pulls the words out as plain text for quoting or searching.

Frequently asked questions

Can you convert a book with DRM?

+

No. Books bought from a store are usually locked to the app of that store, and the protection is not removed here. Only unencrypted EPUB files convert. Many free libraries and self published books ship without DRM.

Why does the page count differ from my reader?

+

An EPUB has no pages. Your reader invents them from your font size and screen. A PDF fixes one specific layout, so the total is whatever that layout produces rather than what your device showed.

Are images and chapter structure kept?

+

Yes. Cover art and inline images are placed with the text, and chapter headings stay in reading order so the document can be navigated.

Can I still change the font size afterwards?

+

No, and that is the trade. Reflowable text is what you give up for a fixed layout. If you need adjustable text, keep the EPUB and read it in a reader app.
